The best gaming keyboard overall
1. Corsair K70 Max
Reasons to buy
- Unique magnetic switches
- Solid construction
- Comfortable wrist rest
- Highly programmable
- Great for gaming and typing
Reasons to avoid buying
- It costs more than the competition
The Corsair K70 Max is a gaming keyboard that means business. Thanks to its magnetic switches, you can not only set the active point of the keys, but you can also program two functions on one key. Throw in sound dampening technology, a durable aluminum frame, and a memory foam wristband, and you’ve got one of the best mechanical keyboards out there.
The comfortable wrist rest and insane level of customization are also strong points. Yes, the $230 asking price isn’t cheap, but if you want a full-size mechanical keyboard with all the trimmings, the Corsair K70 Max is worth your attention.
The best affordable gaming keyboard
Reasons to buy
- Inexpensive
- Unobtrusive design
- Reliable manufacturer
Reasons to avoid
- Lackluster keys
- There are no additional features
The Logitech G413 SE is one of the cheapest mechanical gaming keyboards you can get from a major manufacturer. This full-size keyboard has no extra keys, no software features, and only one backlit shade.
With Long Hua touch switches, the keyboard has a distinct tactile feel that is suitable for both gaming and touch typing. Beyond that, the keyboard’s big appeal is that it has fewer bezels and squeezes a full keyboard and a number pad into a relatively small frame. If you want a brand-name gaming keyboard without spending a lot of money, the Logitech G413 SE is the best choice.
The best wireless gaming keyboard
Technical Specifications
Reasons to buy
- Great keys
- beautiful design
- Powerful software
Reasons to avoid buying
- It leads to wrist fatigue
- very expensive
Only time will tell for sure, but I believe the Logitech G915 represents the future of gaming keyboards. As gaming mice and headsets have become increasingly wireless over the past few years, the G915 shows how keyboards can follow the same path without sacrificing aesthetics or performance. G915 is a very thin and beautiful gaming keyboard that connects to computers via USB dongle or Bluetooth. There is no delay. There’s no signal drop, it’s as fast and responsive as any wired peripheral.
Thanks to low-profile key switches and full RGB lighting, the G915 is both comfortable and visually impressive. The only real downside is that it costs a lot. But when you consider that it will save your desk from unsightly wires and last for years, it can be a great investment.
The best gaming keyboard with low specifications

- Comfortable keys
- Many ways to connect
Reasons to avoid buying
- Much more expensive than wired models
- It leads to wrist fatigue
If you want a gaming keyboard that can easily double as an office model, look no further than the Razer DeathStalker V2 Pro. This minimalist keyboard is one of the most stylish gaming keyboards we’ve ever reviewed, combining a sleek physical design with comfortable mechanical keys and full RGB lighting. It looks fantastic.
Other than that, the DeathStalker V2 Pro works beautifully in-game, just like many of Razer’s high-end keyboards. Wireless performance is also impeccable, supporting both USB and Bluetooth modes and offering decent battery life. Although DeathStalker V2 Pro isn’t cheap, it can be the centerpiece of your gaming setup.
The best gaming keyboard with HOT-SWAPPABLE capability
Technical Specifications
Reasons to buy
- HOT-SWAPPABLE
- 75% compact design
- Comfortable typing experience
- Customization via the Razer Synapse app
Reasons to avoid buying
- More expensive than other competitors
The Razer BlackWidow V4 75% is undoubtedly the best mechanical keyboard Razer has ever released. Featuring the company’s latest orange tactile mechanical switches, a compact 75% layout, and features borrowed directly from the keyboard modding community, the BlackWidow V4 75% is one of the best gaming keyboards you can buy.
As the company’s first swappable keyboard, you can customize this peripheral however you want. However, we’d argue that you don’t need to modify it at all because it’s so great out of the box.
The best TKL gaming keyboard
Technical Specifications
Reasons to buy
- beautiful design
- Original Cherry MX keys
- Useful features of competitions
Reasons to avoid buying
- Expensive
- Media controls have a learning curve
The Corsair K70 RGB TKL Champion Series is one of the best gaming keyboards you can buy. This is especially true if you are in the market for a TKL or tenkeyless model. Like its full-fledged counterpart, the Corsair K70 Mk.2, the K70 RGB TKL features authentic Cherry MX switches, superb design, and robust software. You can customize complex lighting patterns, set profiles for individual games, or even reprogram any key you choose. It is a versatile system.
Like other Corsair keyboards, the K70 RGB TKL is quite expensive. Additionally, while its discrete media keys are available, their non-standard configuration makes them a bit more difficult to use than you’d find on a full-size model. Other than that, the Corsair K70 RGB TKL is a nearly flawless machine.
The best mini gaming keyboard
Technical Specifications
Reasons to buy
- Comfortable keys
- Beautiful RGB lighting
Reasons to avoid buying
- Not ideal for productivity
- The keys are a bit loud
The HyperX Alloy Origins 60 shows that small keyboards can be great for gaming. This 60 percent keyboard lacks a keyboard, function row, or arrow keys, but if you can live with learning some button shortcuts, it’s a great way to streamline your gaming experience while saving desk space. In addition, the Origins Alloy 60 uses comfortable HyperX Red keys and offers a full set of RGB lighting.
Admittedly, the Origins 60 alloy might be a tough sell if you’re not already committed to a small keyboard design. Touch typists will find that a lot of their favorite buttons are missing, and the keycaps are a bit taller than you’d expect. However, this is one of the best gaming keyboards out there.
The best gaming keyboard 65%
Technical Specifications
Reasons to buy
- Convenient switches
- simple design
Reasons to avoid buying
- It is extremely expensive
- Short battery life on default settings
The Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed is one of the best mini gaming keyboards you can buy. Unlike the smaller models, the V3 Mini Hyperspeed has a 65% spec. This means you won’t have to sacrifice separate arrow keys or a dedicated delete button. This is great news for touch typists. For gamers, the V3 Mini Hyperspeed features convenient Razer Green or Yellow switches as well as full RGB lighting that you can sync with your other Razer gear.
Admittedly, the BlackWidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed is quite expensive considering its size. As a wireless keyboard with powerful backlit capabilities, you can use the battery very quickly, at least in the default settings. However, if your desk space is limited, the BlackWidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed is good for typing, for gaming, and for saving room.
How to choose the best gaming keyboard
There are three things to consider when trying to find the best gaming keyboard for your setup: design, features, and price. However, all three are related – keyboards with more complex designs and more attractive features cost more. Simpler keyboards are cheaper. There is no special trick here.
The first thing you need to determine is whether you want a full-size keyboard or no keys. It’s a pretty simple decision: Full-size keyboards have a separate number pad on the right, while tenkeyless models don’t. If you do a lot of productivity work, a numpad is valuable. If not, you can avoid it and save a few bucks.
Meanwhile, if you’re buying a mechanical model, you’ll need to consider what kind of switches you want. Cherry MX is generally the gold standard. The most common types of switches are Cherry, which is red and silent and linear, brown, which is silent and tactile, and blue, which has noise and touch. Other switch manufacturers usually offer similar styles, although the color coding may vary.
Some features cost more than others. RGB lighting can add tens of dollars to the price of a gaming keyboard, and wireless connectivity can make a peripheral even more expensive. Personally, I like both of these options, but they’re not necessarily worth the money if you’re not concerned about the aesthetics of your setup. However, wireless keyboards don’t necessarily have much of an advantage since keyboards are stationary devices.
How we test the best gaming keyboards
To determine the best gaming keyboard, we run each keyboard we review through various tests. The first and most important test is to play through a number of different games and see how the keyboard holds up. I usually like to try at least one FPS, RTS, RPG, and MMO, as these are the genres that benefit the most from a good keyboard. (You can generally get by with one controller for most action/adventure titles.)
After that, we’ll dive into a keyboard’s software suite and assess how easy (or difficult) it is to reprogram keys, set macros, adjust lighting, and create profiles for games. Especially the visual software gets a high score. Complex software can lose some points, even if it is otherwise very robust.
Finally, we use the keyboard for productivity at least for two or three days. Most gamers don’t swap keyboards in and out. What they use for gaming, they should also use for work and general computing. The better a keyboard is for everyday tasks, the better the recommendation.
